The beaches of Les Sables d'Olonne in September
It's impossible to talk about the beaches of the Vendée without starting with the Grande Plage in Les Sables d'Olonne. The most famous of the Vendée's seaside resorts for its long sandy beach, a 3km stretch of embankment with shops facing south and the sea!
Prefer a wilder beach? Head for the Sauveterre beach, A surfing spot known for its rollers, it's perfect for a walk with your dog (leashed all year round). A mix of dunes, rocks and even the surrounding forest for a walk in the heart of nature.
Plage de la Paracou is the ideal spot for shore fishing. It's a long beach of fine sand bordered by dunes and rocks, wilder and less crowded than the larger Plage des Sables.
Or the Veillon beach in Talmont-Hilaire a perfect combination of swimming, nature and even bird-watching.

Escape during the high tides of September 2025
In autumn, the high tides offer a breathtaking spectacle for lovers of seaside strolls. There's no shortage of emblematic places to visit, including the Passage du Gois, Plage des Cinq Pineaux and the Pont d'Yeu at Notre-Dame-de-Monts.

Don't forget that Strict rules govern fishing on foot to preserve marine fauna. Remember to check the tide times and respect the minimum catch sizes and authorized quotas. The autumn season is ideal for harvesting clams, which can still be caught until late autumn in these areas.
